MEET ANKE

Developing the Twelve Senses Retreat has been a dream of mine for over a decade, and I’m so grateful to finally be able to welcome you here. A friend recently told me that they thought that everything in my life has been the perfect catalyst for building this wonderful space…which I instantly felt was true.

As a child, my Dad traveled frequently and was always coming home with tales of inspiring adventures and encounters. To this day, he still inspires me with his non-conformist spirit, his never-ending passion and his holistic approach to living. My mother has always been the relentlessly creative and caring force at home, where there was barely a day without wonderful feasts for last-minute guests, who many times would spend the night.

It’s no wonder that, with such parents, one of my biggest passions has always been hosting. Having friends in my space, cooking together, indulging in great food and lively, meaningful conversations - this is an activity that fulfills my soul. A Color & Material Designer by profession, the other great passion of my life is bringing environments to life with great products, careful attention to detail, and thoughtful consideration to the planet.

The first seed to open my own B&B was planted when I traveled to the Valle De Guadalupe with some dear friends. We visited La Villa De La Valle, and I was deeply touched how co-owners Phil and Eileen had left their careers in Los Angeles, moved across the border, and built a new life. Their incredible passion for high quality, artisanship and sustainability left a long lasting impression in my mind. I

Ten years later, I am immensely thankful to have completed Twelve Senses Retreat, with incredible support from friends, family, our architects and building team.

I am also proud and equally humbled that we are a new member of the Designhotels group - which has long been my to go-to inspiration for travel and hosting.

Come join myself and our small team here - to relax, disconnect from the world, and reconnect with nature.
